“These schools don’t teach us …..!!!” By Nijeta Ankh

Peace and Light!

I don’t come with a fancy greeting in some ancient language.
I might even miss a puncuation. But trust me, the message will be disiminated. This piece is simply written as concerns of a conscious black mother. And some of us have a unique journey.
Mine, I am learning, is one of TEACHING!

Now the thing with being a teacher is that you are in the company of other TEACHERS. And the first, MOST INFLUENTIAL TO THE DEVELOPEMENT of a child is the MOTHER!

The MOTHER is the first TEACHER, molder and shaper. She is the first watchman, protector, and granter of needs, wants, and desires…

Before we leave the womb!

Then we find ourselves in this complex construct or matrix . We have to relearn all we lost incarnating. We MUST HAVE TEACHERS to help us navigate. And then GUIDES. WITHOUT IT, THE MATRIX is basically layered with brutal possibilities AND PITFALLS.

WITHOUT THE RIGHT INFORMATION, KNOWLEDGE, DATA, WE CANNOT FULLY SELF-ACTUALIZE!

To TEACH is what Tehuti (the ancient god of wisdom and scribe) above ALL, desired!

We (melenated people) have always taken learning seriously in nearly every aspect of life BEFORE THE NEW WORLD, COLONIALISM, TRANS-ATLANTIC, AND SUB-SAHARA SLAVE TRADES.
IT WAS WITH THESE WORLDWIDE MANIPULATIONS AND MACHINATIONS THAT CULTURE (In the WESTERN WORLD)WAS REDUCED TO TRAINING AND INDUSTRIAL PERSUITS.

WE LEARNED TO WORK. WE WORK FOR MONEY, TO LIVE (IS THE IDEA). SO LEARNING IS BASED ON COMPETITION AND CAPITALISM. IT IS NOT TO BRING UP LIGHT BEINGS , EVOLVING TO PERFECT THEIR LIFE EXPERIENCE!

IN SCHOOL, WE WERE NOT EVEN TAUGHT TO MEDITATE!

This has caused concern with those who deem themselves progressives and/or privileged enough to have alternatives to public school. This has caused an influx of expensively priced private schools and less expensive or free alternatives- charter schools.

But i’m not here to get into a endless trip of cognitive dissonance, attempting to find silver linings.

I didnt mention anything about children/people of color being caught in the conundrums of public schooling. Based on our unique output and contributions to every aspect of the world. Why is it that some of us feel ..
“These schools dont teach us shyt!!”?
As stated by rap group, Dead Pres.

Because in essence, they haven’t!

And not only that…they never will!

Dangerous ideas/Dangerous Minds

This kind of talk is dangerous. So let me temper this with reason.
You can have your schools….for whoever desires. That is how it should be in a free society.

However, PUBLIC SCHOOL shouldn’t be a trip to hyper-european lunacy!

We don’t all celebrate european holidays! So why build curriculum around holidays that many deem offensive?

How is it that African spirituality, collective economics, and in-depth knowledge of what is called the animal kingdom, nature, and agriculture, not shared with children of what is called “african decent”??

The real question is why does anyone need to ask? Or why isnt every person of color demanding to pull their babies out??

Because we dont want to be targeted. No one wants to pioneer such a quest. Yet, most know that the educational system is broken.

I live in Phoenix, Az. We have a street…ONE OF OUR MAJOR STREETS IN THE CITY is called INDIAN SCHOOL. That is because on that a street, an actual “school” or more like a detention center for young Native American children during the 19th century. https://archive.archaeology.org/online/features/phoenix/
It was at this school that young native yaqui, navajo, and hopi children were kidnapped from their families and forced to undergo a form of programming for European interest of colonialism within the area. At this and facilities of its kind, children recieved forced hair cuts (which is extremely spiritually demoralizing to the indigenous people)physical abuse, and learned programming ,ENGLISH,and other social neccesities for entering and engaging American life.

Why would I bring that up?

Because with all things considered, not much has really changed.

Instead MOM AND DAD are willing captives at their places of employment.

You CANNOT ignore or debase someone elses culture and implant your own belief system without seriously damaging that individual and/or persons.

You cannot FORCE ideas and images and folklore NOT THAT OF THE CULTURE OF THE STUDENT without marginalizing and/or dehumanizing that student!

This deals only with curriculum.
Lets look at how these teachers actually “teach”.

Teaching or breeching

My 9 yr old daughter recently won Student of the month, just a few days ago!
A moment of pride was swept away by the sadness of the fact that the curriculum is full of false ideas, lack of mathematical strategy, no in-depth history and very little science. “Physical Education” is composed of various high-impact sports (some without safe surroundings and with very little equipment) . Sometimes on a concrete pavement. And also. NO COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING (yelling and screaming directives is not training)! And lastly no self-help exercises, no yoga, no meditation, no tai chi, not even breathing techniques.

Ok…so as you probably guessed, she attends a public school.
So should I stop paying taxes???

The saddest part is that I suffered the same malaise as a child under the same school district. But I was luckier than most of my counterparts.

My mother (an educator also) taught us at home until my 6 grade year!

Am I biased?? YES!!

YET MY BIAS IS BASED ON MY KNOWLEDGE.
IT DOESNT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY!

I could share the piling statistics regarding American school systems. But is it the point? Is it much different from what is taught in Europe?

Well, follow me. It is a social program from over 100 years ago based on a campaign of european domination, nearly 500 years ago.

Demand

I want my babies fed (mentally, emotionally, spiritually, culturally)!

But to physically feed our families also, public school is the only brutal option.

If you have a sista-friend with a co-op school in her living room, YOU ARE WINNING!!

And that’s the best thing next to home-schooling.

For myself, if it wasn’t for the nice melenated lady in the office of their elementary school, i’d feel like I was leaving my babies in some foreign dungeon.

Very few of their “teachers” even look like them.

Speaking with one of them (recently) she had trouble admitting my daughter’s excellence in math by claiming her reading overshadows her math performance. Then, My daughter earns Student of the month a few days later! I say that to say this: the teachers are many times, not interested in acknowledging true gifts of melenated children. I find (by experience) teachers will tell black children that they are great atheletes or artists before they say : You show skills of a scientist or mathematician.

This is psychological warfare!

And we add to it many times as parents so wrapped up in the same kind of black genius marginalization.
It happened to Malcolm X …
As it states in the autobiography of Malcolm.X.

“A turning point in Malcolm X’s childhood came in 1939, when his English teacher asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up and he answered that he wanted to be a lawyer. His teacher responded, “One of life’s first needs is for us to be realistic. . .you need to think of something you can be. . .why don’t you plan on carpentry?” Having thus been told in no uncertain terms that there was no point in a black child pursuing education, Malcolm X dropped out of school the following year, at the age of 15.”

Notice that this was a TURNING POINT in his life! That is how critical this time is for a child. The formidable years are the moments that affect thought and behavior for years after.

Yet we wait. We wait for the child to GRADUATE and then GET EMPLOYED and then MAKE MONEY and then (you hope for)Accolades…

And at what point is the psychological damage addressed that was suffered early on in these institutions?

With this in mind, the ancestors showed me that to supplement the nonsence with a strong african/indigenous platform, I can detox(daily)my offsprint and also provide my own programming- godly!

Sonic*Audio*Visual

First: innerstand how we learn as light beings.
Think about how you take in information!
You like sound! You like color! Things need to be repeated to you. And you like positive reinforcement!

So do your babies!!
(We can be so cruel in our ignorance). We should try to incorporate all elements when possible. We have photo apps, word processors, printers, and some of us are graphic designers.
We all have to show where our priorities lie.

So the question is: “make just one more meme or teaching tool for my lil god?”

Your choice!

Learning should and can ALWAYS be FUN! HEAR IT! SEE IT! EXPERIENCE IT!

WE SCROLL ALL DAY but neglect that maybe we can find things that our babies will find useful in the learning process.
There is alot of tools hidden in plain sight for us.

Print and color sacred symbols and letters

Toddlers love to color and run thru the alphabet. So print out those ankhs! Do you know that just staring at the symbols holds great power and meditative properties. Quiet coloring takes on a new energy, indeed!
Explain what the symbol means (in male and female terms) and in full as age permits. By that time, they can digitize a lovely version just for you!

The youth will learn language much easier than adults. Start your child on the trajectory for learning a new language by providing alphabet for an ancestral language.

Incorporate Yoga and Meditation

Do you have a baby who has an endless energy source? Do you think they won’t try yoga? Well try it anyway! I have found that starting with relaxing music helps let the children know that its time to meditate. Studies show countless benefits.
https://www.doyouyoga.com/5-reasons-why-schools-should-teach-kids-to-meditate-94605/
We know that this is part of our culture and health regimen.
Put on a family play

Get your melenated child interested in divine archetypes and language by putting a family play together. This can be super fun and gives the whole family a chance to get involved. Reherse just a few nights or not at all (HAVE FUN!!) the script and repetition of such will help our children innerstand some of the attributes and beautiful qualities of our people. This reinforces the same in our babies. This is why movies and theater holds such power, the emotional attachement to the characters. Teach the children the importance of respect for the sacred characters as well as themselves.

Play chess!

Like nearly every single thing of civilized culture, chess was created by the ancient Kemetic people.
Here is a great article on this:
http://blackvoicenews.com/2008/02/14/chess-originated-in-africa/
Keep in mind, you dont need alot of space and only two at a time. This can be done at leisure. Chess takes mathematical prowness, great concentration and strategy.

Conclusion

There is good news! With repetition, spirit, AND LOVE, programming like this demands for new thoughts, new behaviors, and intimate learning on a new level! The additional good news is that the secular training pf society is so low frequency that supplementing with a strong afrikan base of knowledge and understanding, the harddrive doesn’t have room for feelings of inferiority!

Take charge of your baby’s learning!

There’s always more ideas to share, feel free to share them below!

Peace n’Light
